Welcome to Niko Kwangu
Niko Kwangu was born out of a desire to showcase ordinary people’s homes so they can be an inspiration for others. We’ve created this space for anyone who’s ever bought a piece of furniture, or painted a wall, or grown a plant, or sourced artwork for their home- which is all of us. In our stories, we’ll feature ordinary people who’ve done something special with their homes so that it inspires you to give yours some extra TLC.
And we invite you to share your home with us, too. We’re not in the business of celebrity home tours because we understand that real homes are works in progress and they have messy spaces and incomplete rooms; still, we all have that one corner that we really like and that makes us proud. This could be a cozy reading nook, a gallery wall full of beloved art, the bathroom of your dreams, or a kitchen that fills your heart with joy every time you cook in it. Niko Kwangu is where you can proudly show off these parts of your home.
This sense of pride and joy and ownership is in our name, Niko Kwangu, which means I am in my home in Swahili. And home for us means where you live, whether rented or bought or built.
We are not a shop but we also want to introduce you to fundis and small businesses doing good work. So we’ll occasionally feature vendors whose products or services we like or are recommended to us by readers and you can patronise them if you wish.
What Niko Kwangu is not
- An interior design shop or vendor
- An interior design service provider
Let’s inspire each other and celebrate beautiful homes.
One last thing: we promise that the photos and videos we publish here or on any of our other platforms are real and authentic, not AI-generated. Should we use any AI generated images, we shall disclose it.
